Butique Hotel Hviezdoslav **** Kežmarok

Pavol Országh Hviezdoslav

The hotel is named after the bard of Slovak literature, POHviezdoslav, who studied for 4 years at the well-known Kežmar lyceum and lived in a private residence in one of these houses, as evidenced by the commemorative plaque on the front of the building. This is where his poems from his 1st collection Jozef Zbránský's Prviesienka, which he already wrote in Slovak, were written and where his first love poems of unrequited love were also written here.

Signum Virtutis awards

The titles the hotel can be proud of include the Signum Virtutis Seal of Excellence in the category of historic boutique hotels at the Seven Stars Luxury Hospitality and Lifestyle Awards. In this category, the hotel took first place in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 and was thus ranked among the best accommodation and catering facilities in the world.

Guests who visit the hotel can also visit the literary cafe with portraits of famous Slovak poets and writers who studied in Kežmark, as well as numerous fiction and visual publications not only in the Slovak language.

Paul Kray

The salon is named after Marshal of the Imperial Army Pavel Kray, grandson of the legendary Kežmar mayor and diplomat Jakub Kray.

Imrich Thököly

The Poézia restaurant depicts the most important historical monuments of Kežmarok, such as Kežmarský hrad, town hall, redoubt, lyceum and the like.

Kray's Winery

The interior of the hotel also hides a flat, not large, but all the more stylish Kray's wine cellar with a rich selection of high-quality Slovak and foreign wines and Tokaj wine, which is historically linked to the town of Kežmarok, which in the past had large vineyards in the Tokaj region. In the cellar there is also the most beautiful Renaissance portal in the city of Kežmarok.

Imirch Thököly

The salon is named after the prince of Transylvania, who was the uncrowned king of Upper Hungary and the leader of the anti-Habsburg uprising, and was also called the king of Kuruk by his contemporaries. Also, the nearby Kežmar Castle once belonged to the Thököly family.
